SPOLCHEMIE Wins Governor’s Award for Social Responsibility

When the jury of the Ústí Region Governor’s Award for Social Responsibility tallied the scores this year, SPOLCHEMIE came out on top — achieving the highest score among all more than fifty entrants. With this award, the regional leadership aims to highlight inspiring companies and institutions from both the public and private sectors.

What impressed the jury?
The evaluation focused on sustainable and ethical business practices, fair and responsible treatment of employees, and support for educational, cultural, sports, and environmental projects. In practice, this means dozens of small and large actions — from grants and scholarships to investments in innovative production technologies.
“We have been part of this region for almost 170 years and see it as natural to help it grow. Being recognized by the jury as the top-rated organization among truly outstanding and large companies in this region is a tremendous honor,” says CEO Jan Křička.
“Without exaggeration – everyone at SPOLCHEMIE contributed to this, whether they wear a helmet or sit behind a computer.”

Mini-Grants: When a Good Idea Needs a Small Financial Boost
Sometimes just a few thousand crowns are enough to turn an idea into a real project that makes a difference or creates unforgettable experiences. That’s why we launched the SPOLCHEMIE Mini-Grants program in 2019 — a program that allows employees and other active individuals or associations in our region to apply for up to CZK 10,000 for community or environmental projects in their towns or villages. This allows us to support even small initiatives that might not find help elsewhere.

EcoVadis: A Long-Term Barometer
The mini-grants stand alongside other activities that contribute to the company’s strong reputation in sustainability. Last year, we retained our EcoVadis Gold Medal and achieved a score of 78 points, placing us among the top 5% of rated companies. This prestigious assessment includes 21 sustainability criteria and evaluates more than 130,000 companies worldwide.
“This ranking is a huge success for us and would not have been possible without the dedication, cooperation, and professionalism of our entire team,” says Kamila Vítek Derynková, who is responsible for sustainability and ESG at SPOLCHEMIE.
This year’s results are still pending, but it is already clear that stable processes and transparency were key factors even for the Governor’s Award jury.

“In the chemical industry, we were even among the top 2% globally last year.”

Thanks to the Whole Team
The Governor’s recognition is above all confirmation that SPOLCHEMIE’s core values — teamwork, expertise, shared responsibility, customer focus, and innovation — are also appreciated by those around us. Every new project, investment, and idea helps us move forward and maintain a competitive and sustainable chemical industry in our region.
