Our goal is to systematically minimise our impact on the environment, right here in our region during production and globally in terms of the properties of our products
Over the last 15 years we have spent more than CZK 5 billion on new technologies, all of which are so-called BAT (best available techniques),meaning that our production meets modern standards both in terms of environmental protection and in terms of raw materials and energy intensity and operational safety.
Currently, more than 90% of our production uses technologies put into operation after 2000.
In 2017 we launched a new membrane electrolysis, which not only eliminated mercury from the production of alkali hydroxides and chlorine and significantly reduced specific energy consumption, but also enabled greater production of hydrogen, which will be a valuable energy source, for example, as fuel for automobile transport.
Thanks to the introduction of new technologies and the shutdown or modernisation of obsolete production lines, we have been able to reduce air emissions by more than 57% since 2010. Compared to 2000, this reduction is greater even than 90%.
By constantly reducing specific energy consumption, we are reducing the carbon footprint of our individual products. Since 2004, we have reduced specific energy consumption by 40%.
We are mapping our impact on greenhouse gases by use of the life cycle analysis (LCA) of our production and key products.
In 1994, as one of the first Czech chemical companies, we committed ourselves to the principles of the worldwide voluntary initiative Responsible Care.
